‘No space’ in Everton squad for Bolasie

Carlo Ancelotti admits there is ‘no space’ in Everton’s squad for Yannick Bolasie.

Bolasie has not featured for the Blues since playing in a 3-1 loss to West Ham which proved to be Sam Allardyce’s last match in charge in May 2018.

Limited first-team opportunities under Marco Silva saw the winger sent out on loan to Aston Villa, Anderlecht and Sporting Lisbon over the next two seasons.

Despite impressing during pre-season, Bolasie still fails to find himself in Ancelotti’s plans as Everton enjoy a 100 per cent start to the new campaign.

Ahead of Saturday’s visit of Brighton, the Italian admitted the DR Congo international does not feature in his plans while praising his professionalism.

He said: “Bolasie is doing well, he’s training well and properly.

“He’s a professional. He is not part of the squad.

“He can train with us if he’s not able to find a club until the end of the market, and if he stays here of course we are going to train him.

“But I said to him that we have a big squad, and unfortunately there is no space for him.”

Bolasie responded to Ancelotti’s remarks on Twitter by revealing he is already aware of his Goodison Park future and paid tribute to the Everton manager.

“I spoke with the boss last week. Not news for me,” he wrote.

“All I’ll say is the respect I have for him is very high.

“I’ve finally been treated like a human being again after a few years. Football is not as simple as 123….

“My work rate and desire will never change.”
