Leighton Baines has been offered the chance to finish his career at Everton.
Baines’ current deal at Goodison Park is due to expire at the end of the 2019/20 season but is set to be given the option of a one-year extension.
The left-back remains a prominent figure within the Blues’ first-team ranks ever since his £6 million arrival from Wigan Athletic in summer 2007.
Now 35, Baines is just one of four senior players whose contract is due to expire once the 2019/20 Premier League season has finally concluded.
Deputy goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg, defender Cuco Martina and striker Oumar Niasse are the other whose futures will be decided later this month.
Everton have until June 23 to confirm whether they will be keeping the trio.
Meanwhile Goodison officials remain hopeful that their Merseyside derby clash with Liverpool on June 20 will not be played at a neutral venue.
Top flight fixtures are set to take place behind closed doors but the Anfield club’s impending title win has threatened to see the derby relocated.
Both clubs have opposed the plans outlined by national police chiefs while Merseyside Police have backed their bids to complete fixtures on home soil.
