Everton identify long-term Silva replacements

Erik ten Hag and Leonardo Jardim are among Everton’s targets for a new manager.

Marco Silva is set to be relieved of his duties on Thursday after a 5-2 defeat to defeat at Liverpool plunged the Blues into the Premier League’s relegation zone.

The Goodison Park hierarchy are understood to be planning to appoint former manager David Moyes as Silva’s successor initially on an interim basis.

But a series of candidates have emerged as potential long-term replacements to the former Watford and Hull City boss beyond the end of the current campaign.

Ajax manager Ten Hag is reported to be one of three preferred options to have been met with the backing of Everton’s director of football Marcel Brands.

According to Goal.com, his Monaco counterpart Leonardo Jardim and ex-Toffees midfielder turned Manchester City coach Mikel Arteta are also on the shortlist.

Both Ten Hag and Jardim delivered domestic success with their current employers in addition to impressive runs to the Champions League semi-final.

Everton’s majority investor Farhad Moshiri has travelled to Merseyside in order to preside over Silva’s sacking after less than 18 months in the Goodison hot seat.
