Liverpool weigh up Fabinho role at Aston Villa

Jurgen Klopp will weigh up whether to include Fabinho in Liverpool’s trip to Aston Villa.

Fabinho is just one booking away from an automatic suspension, which would rule him out of next weekend’s top-of-the-table clash with Manchester City.

The Brazil international has become an influential figure for the Reds this season and was recently hailed as the ‘perfect’ no.6 by captain Jordan Henderson.

But Klopp admits that he is yet to make a decision on Fabinho’s involvement for the Premier League leaders against Dean Smith’s side on Saturday afternoon.

Asked whether he would include the midfielder at Villa Park, the Liverpool manager said: “I don’t know yet.

“I will have to see. I know he is [one booking away]. No challenges at all!

“It is not possible against Aston Villa to play without tackles. We know that.

“We have to deal with this information, either him or me with the line-ups.”

Klopp, who was nominated for October’s Premier League Manager of the Month on Friday, also admitted Naby Keita could be a late inclusion for the Villa game.

However the Liverpool manager revealed that Joel Matip is set to be sidelined for up to a fortnight as he continues to recover from an aggravated knee problem.

“Naby I don’t know yet [if he’s available], we will see,” he added.

“Joel is not [available] for the next few weeks.”
