Andre Gomes has been handed a late call-up to the Portugal squad.
Gomes returned to Everton action following a four-week absence with a rib injury during the closing stages of their 1-0 defeat to Burnley last weekend.
But the midfielder’s absence did little to hamper his prospects for the European champions as they continue their title defence in the latest round of qualifiers.
Fernando Santos has handed Gomes his first international call-up since completing a permanent move to Goodison Park in place of William Carvalho.
Injury has forced the Real Betis player out of the Selecao’s squad for their Euro 2020 clashes with Luxembourg and the Ukraine over the coming week.
Gomes’ last international cap with his country came while with Barcelona when he featured in a World Cup qualifying win over Switzerland in October 2017.
He was included in Portugal’s preliminary 35-man squad for the finals in Russia but did not make the final cut following a disappointing spell at the Nou Camp.
