Silva refuses to rule out fresh Kurt Zouma bid

Marco Silva has refused to rule out Everton renewing their interest in Kurt Zouma.

Zouma spent the previous campaign on loan with the Blues but a deal to lure the defender to Merseyside on a permanent basis failed to materialise this summer.

As a result, Everton currently only have three established centre-backs in Yerry Mina, Michael Keane and Mason Holgate following Phil Jagielka’s departure.

The France international, meanwhile, has enjoyed mixed fortunes at Chelsea and was overlooked for a starring role in their last three Premier League games.

Ahead of his side’s trip to Burnley on Saturday, Silva remained coy about Zouma rejoining the ranks at Goodison Park during the January transfer window.

He said: “It’s too far for us to talk about these possible situations over what will happen or not in January.

“We have to keep full focus on our players, what we are doing to improve and keep improving as a team, this is the main thing for us.

“When the window opens again you can talk about the situation but in this moment we are fully focused on our players and always focused on the next game and nothing more than that.
