Everton in line for Lukaku windfall

Everton will receive a fresh windfall if Romelu Lukaku leaves Manchester United this summer.

Talks took place between the Old Trafford hierarchy and Inter Milan on Friday over a potential transfer to take the Belgium international to the Serie A outfit.

Inter were initially keen on a loan arrangement for Lukaku but the Red Devils are understood to be only willing to entertain a permanent deal for the player.

Should that happen, Everton are set to receive a £5 million sell-on fee as agreed in the 26-year-old’s original £75m switch from Merseyside in 2017.

Antonio Conte had attempted to re-sign Lukaku to Chelsea during his time as manager and is now keen to link up with the striker at the San Siro.

Everton, meanwhile, are on the verge of finalising a deal for Fabian Delph.

The England midfielder will move to Goodison Park in a deal worth an initial £8m after entering the final 12 months of his current contract with Manchester City.

Delph’s first-team prospects with the Premier League champions have been diminished by their club-record signing of Rodri from Atletico Madrid.
