Green Day-inspired musical American Idiot will return to Liverpool next month.
Featuring hit songs from the band’s 2004 album of the same title, the show follows three boyhood friends each searching for meaning in a post 9/11 world.
A winner of two Tony Awards and a Grammy for Best Musical Show Album, American Idiot launched in December 2009 at Berkeley Rep Threatre.
Now in its 10th year, it last appeared in Liverpool at the Empire Theatre in summer 2016 with Newton Faulkner and Amelia Lily both starring.
The show features the music of Green Day with the lyrics of its lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong and book by Billie Joe Armstrong and Michael Mayer.
This year’s show at the Playhouse runs from July 9 to 13 with Waterloo Road’s Tom Milner appearing alongside X Factor finalists Luke Friend and Sam Lavery.
