Everton are set to make Jonas Lossl their first signing of the summer window.
Lossl will move to Goodison Park on a free transfer after declining to extend his stay with Huddersfield Town following their relegation from the Premier League.
The Denmark international’s contract at the John Smith’s Stadium is set to expire at the end of June and has already bid farewell to the Terriers’ fans this week.
Foot Mercato claim that several clubs have been in the hunt for Lossl, with Ligue 1 giants Marseille and Monaco both credited with interest in the goalkeeper.
But it appears that the 30-year-old will instead join the Blues to provide both competition and cover for the club’s first-choice stopper Jordan Pickford.
A two-year deal is understood to have been offered to Lossl, which could spell the end for Maarten Steklenburg’s three-year stay on the blue half Merseyside.
Stekelenburg’s contract has a further 12 months to run but may find himself surplus to requirement with the arrival of the former Mainz goalkeeper.
