Phil Jagielka admits that he may have played his last game for Everton.
Jagielka made a stoppage-time cameo in the Blues’ 2-0 win over Burnley on Friday as Marco Silva’s side signed off their home campaign on a high note.
But the veteran defender’s future remains clouded in uncertainty with his existing contract at Goodison Park currently set to expire at the end of next month.
Everton supporters chanted Jagielka’s name during his run-out amid fears that their club captain, who turns 37 in August, will be leaving after 12 years.
The former England international held talks over his future with Silva earlier this week and further round of discussions are planned in the coming days.
“The answer will probably come in the next ten days,” Jagielka told Sky Sports.
“I hope not but there is obviously a good possibility it could be. Time will tell.
“If not, I will go and find somewhere else to play football. I think I can play on and I feel that way.
“Whether someone else feels that way is the million-dollar question.”
Silva confirmed that further talks are set to take place with Jagielka but refused to disclose any additional information following the visit of Sean Dyche’s side.
He said: “I had a conversation with Jags this week and I will have another next week also.
“What I say to him will stay between me and him. You will have to wait until next week.
“I have met with him many times and we didn’t talk about just the future, we’ve spoken about the whole season.
“He is our captain and it is not just about what we want to do.”
