Everton midfielder Ross Barkley has completed a £15 million move to Chelsea.
Barkley did not feature for the Blues this season after picking up a hamstring injury and almost joined the Londoners in a £35m transfer last summer.
The midfielder pulled out of his original switch to Stamford Bridge but has now signed a five-and-a-half year deal with the Premier League champions.
Everton risked losing Barkley, a product of the club’s youth system, for nothing when his existing contract expired at the end of this season.
Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia said: “Ross is a player we have long admired and are certain he will prove to be an important player for Chelsea.
“He possesses outstanding technical and physical attributes, matched with good experience of the Premier League and a strong desire to succeed at the highest level.”
Barkley made his full Everton debut in 2011, aged 17, barely a year after suffering a double leg break while in training with England’s under-19 side.
He went on to become a regular fixture in the first-team at Goodison Park and was a part of his country’s squads at the 2014 World Cup and Euro 2016.
