Allardyce wants ex-Liverpool duo in Everton setup

Sam Allardyce wants Sammy Lee to join his coaching setup at Everton.

Allardyce is set to become Ronald Koeman’s permanent replacement with talks between the ex-England boss and the Blues progressing.

A salary close to the £6 million per season that Koeman earned is understood to have been agreed as the 63-year-old prepares to take the reins at Goodison Park.

One of Allardyce’s first acts as Everton manager will be to install former Liverpool stalwarts Lee and Ryland Morgans to his newly-formed ranks.

The pair worked under the veteran Premier League manager during his most recent spell in management with Crystal Palace which ended in May.

Koeman claimed that Lee’s Anfield connections prevented him joining the Dutchman’s own backroom at Goodison.

However the 58-year-old was deemed surplus to requirement at his boyhood club during Kenny Dalglish’s tenure in 2011, ending a 35-year association.

Lee previously served as Allardyce’s assistant at both the Eagles and Bolton Wanderers as well as a brief spell with the England national team.

Morgans departed his post as Liverpool’s head of fitness and conditioning in March last year in Jurgen Klopp’s overhaul of the club’s medical department.

Also expected to join Allardyce’s backroom will be Craig Shakespeare, who was sacked as Leicester City manager last month.
