Unique pop-up art store opens in Albert Dock

A new independent art retailer has opened a pop-up store at the Albert Dock.

Dock Art will provide customers with a unique experience of seeing artists create new projects in front of them before having the opportunity to purchase new artwork in store.

The store boasts unique items on sale with quirky designs from mugs, to tea towels, to bespoke t-shirts made from organic cotton and one-off limited edition prints and traditional prints.

Close to Tate Liverpool at The Colonnades, Dock Art is the latest independent business to set up shop at Albert Dock, following most recently, Utility.

The latest addition of Dock Art is part of the current strategic reinvention of Albert Dock’s retail and leisure on offer at the famous dock.

For co-founders Katherine Caldwell and Freida McKitrick, Dock Art is the duo’s latest venture with many stores already established across the city.

Katherine said: “This is a dream location for us. It is without doubt one of Liverpool’s most iconic sites – with the heritage, attractions, architecture and events, and we are absolutely honoured to set up a business here.”

Dock Art consists of 10 specially chosen local artists who specialise from illustrations to photography.

The artists will give customers the chance to hear the story behind the artwork on sale first hand.

Katherine added: “For us it is about making art accessible to all and affordable.

“Our customers feel involved in the process, and can hear the full story behind what they are buying – where it was made and the origins of the materials used.

“It is a unique concept that we think is perfectly suited to Albert Dock.”
