Double header of shows for Merseyside football fans

Merseyside football fans can round off the season with a double header of shows dedicated to the game’s local icons.

Ray Clemence and Bob Latchford will take to the stage at New Brighton’s Floral Pavilion to reflect on their illustrious careers on opposing sides of Stanley Park.

‘An Audience With Clem & Latch’ is set to coincided the 50th anniversary of Clemence’s signing for Liverpool under the legendary Bill Shankly.

Widely rated as Anfield’s greatest ever goalkeeper, he will be joined on stage by his former England international team mate and Everton striker Latchford.

 

The show will reveal an intriguing and nostalgic insight into Anfield and Goodison Park through the 1970s and early 1980s, as well as life with England.

Among the topics on May 18 will be a wonder save by Clemence from Latchford that denied the Blues striker a place in the list of Mersey derby goalscorers.

“This anniversary has crept up on me but it will be a great experience being back on Merseyside in front of a local audience,” said Clemence.

“I have wonderful memories of my time at Anfield and also the fantastic welcome I received from the Kop when I went back with Tottenham.”

The following week, a trio of Liverpool legends will join veteran broadcaster John Keith to mark the 40th anniversary of their European Cup triumph in Rome.

 

Ian Callaghan, Jimmy Case and Phil Neal are set to relive events of the club’s win over Borussia Monchengladbach in the Italian capital for The Kop’s Roman Carnival.

“That game in Rome was unforgettable and we’ll be telling the inside story of our run to the Final and the long journey since our first European Cup game against Reykjavik back in 1964,” said Callaghan.

The show features exclusive audio clips and rolling images and Wirral-based international vocalist Ian Ross will be performing live.
