Liverpool will learn from their past mistakes in the transfer market this summer.
Attempts to sustain a Premier League title challenge fell flat for the Reds as a number of injury setbacks highlighted their current lack of strength in depth.
Philippe Coutinho, Daniel Sturridge, Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana have all notably succumbed to injury at regular intervals during the campaign.
Those woes were further compounded by Sadio Mane’s involvement in the Africa Cup of Nations in January, which coincided with an alarming downturn in form.
With European football set to return to Anfield next term, owners Fenway Sports Group are preparing to afford Jurgen Klopp a sizeable war chest to strengthen.
And the Liverpool manager insists that his side’s recent failings are set to be finally addressed in his recruitment heading into the new 2017/18 campaign.
He said: “More players doesn’t automatically mean that you have more options; more players could mean more injuries.
“We will show that we have learned from this year.
“Of course we will bring in players. The squad will change in few positions. We will still have young players in the squad.
“With the problems we had in January, February, of course it was clear [we needed to strengthen].
“The injury to Phil in November, Sadio not [available] in January, Danny Ings not in for a long time, Daniel Sturridge not at 100 percent, then out.
“Each team in the world should have another striker or winger [in that situation], but it gave a lot of young boys a chance to show about themselves.
“But next year we need to have more options in these positions, that’s clear.”
