Romelu Lukaku’s agent has claimed that the Everton striker is on the verge of signing a new long-term contract.
Lukaku became the Blues’ joint-highest Premier League scorer of all time when he struck during last weekend’s 2-0 win over relegation strugglers Sunderland.
But the Belgium international is yet to put pen to paper on a deal despite agent Mino Raiola claiming in December he was ‘99.9 per cent’ close to agreeing terms.
In an interview with TalkSport, however, Raiola confirmed that Lukaku, 23, is set to commit his long-term future to Goodison Park, saying it was ‘99.99999999’ done.
He said: “We are signing a longer contract, so that is for sure the intention [to stay].
“In football, contracts are not there to be going until the end sometimes but there is always two parties in the deal.
“If everybody thinks it is better to move on, then that will be done at that moment.
“But for this moment, he is signing a contract with Everton.”
