Lukaku ‘99.9 per cent’ close to new Everton FC deal

Romelu Lukaku’s agent has revealed that the Everton striker is ‘99.9 per cent’ close to agreeing a new contract.

Lukaku’s current deal with the Blues runs until summer 2019 but is in talks on an improved deal which would see him become the club’s first £100,000-a-week player.

Several European clubs have been credited with interest in the Belgian striker, who claimed he attracted concrete interest from an English club last summer.

But representative Mino Raiola has claimed that Lukaku, 23, is on the verge of putting pen to paper on a new long-term deal at Goodison Park.

“With Everton, we have 99.9 per cent reached terms,” he told TalkSport.

“We are talking to the club in a good spirit so we are very hopeful. There are no problems on the way that I foresee.

“I don’t see any big problems. It is a question of putting the details on the paper.”

Despite the improved long-term deal, Raiola has refused to discount Lukaku leaving Everton in the near future.

He added: “If Romelu is good enough, strong enough, to move in the next year then we will talk to Everton about it.

“It is a very good relationship at the moment. We know what both parties want.

“Everton is going through a transition from a club that was maybe aiming for Europa League.

“Now they are more ambitious and maybe in the near future will go into the Champions League or maybe even win the Premier League at a certain stage.”
