Jurgen Klopp could be reunited with Neven Subotic at Liverpool after the defender announced his decision to leave Borussia Dortmund.
Under Klopp, Subotic formed a solid defensive partnership with Mats Hummels, who recently joined Bayern Munich, but has fallen out of favour under Thomas Tuchel.
And on the back of making just six appearances last season, the Serbia international has offered the Reds fresh hope of a renewed persuit by outlining an intention to leave Signal Iduna Park in a message on his official Facebook page.
“Over the past year I’ve realised that my love for football and for playing an active role on the pitch is too big for me to just watch from the outside,” he wrote.
“I’m at the best age for a footballer and I want to use this time to bring myself and my club forward.”
