Naby Keita set for Liverpool FC showdown talks

Liverpool target Naby Keita will hold showdown talks with RB Leipzig this week.

Keita will meet with the Bundesliga side’s hierarchy to try and force through a move to Anfield which would see the club’s transfer record emphatically smashed.

The Guinea international remains keen on a move to the Reds after impressing in his debut season for Leipzig which saw them challenge Bayern Munich for the German title.

Jurgen Klopp is determined to secure Keita’s services 12 months ahead of a £48 million release clause which will be triggered in his contract next summer.

Leipzig are expected to demand in the region of £70m for the midfielder, 22, in attempts to ward off interest from high-profile suitors such as Liverpool.

 

Oliver Mintzlaff, RBL’s CEO, previously warned in May that none of the club’s first-team players would be allowed to leave at any price.

Liverpool have already surpassed their previous transfer record with the £36.9m capture of former Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah from Roma last month.

Keita supplied eight goals and assists in 31 Bundesliga appearances last term.
