Mamadou Sakho could secure his Liverpool exit later today after Crystal Palace entered the race to sign the exiled defender.
Sakho has not featured for the Reds since last April, when he was suspended by UEFA pending the outcome of testing positive for a banned substance.
Following his acquittal, the France international’s efforts to revive his Anfield career faltered as he was sent home from the club’s pre-season tour of America.
Since then Sakho has been forced to train and play in Liverpool’s under-23 side after being confined to the wilderness by Jurgen Klopp in September.
Southampton and Spartak Moscow appeared the most likely destinations for the 27-year-old to leave Merseyside but the EFL Cup finalists’ loan offer was rejected.
Palace, however, are set to offer Sakho a chance to end his current misery with the London club are aiming to strike a deal with Anfield chiefs before tonight’s 11pm deadline.
