Confirmed: Liverpool FC in hunt for Serie A prodigy

Franck Kessie’s agent has confirmed that Liverpool are chasing the Atlanta midfielder’s signature.

The 20-year-old will head to the Africa Cup of Nations next month with the Ivory Coast but is said to be the subject of interest from several Premier League clubs.

Among them are the Reds, who were previously claimed to be edging ahead of Serie A champions Juventus in the pursuit of the highly-rated Kessie.

Chelsea have reportedly failed to test Atlanta’s resolve in the player with their opening £25 million offer rejected by the Italian side.

And representative George Atangana claims that more than just the London club are pursing his client ahead of the transfer window opening on January 1.

“We have a lot of interest from the Premier League – Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal,” he told the Guardian.

“I cannot say at this stage how much he will cost but we are talking about one of the best young players in the world.

“But for us the most important thing is that the technical project is the right one for him. Franck is very young so we have to be very careful about his development.

“Chelsea are very interested and it is a great club but we must take our time to consider all the options.

“Now we are in January so he has to play at the African Cup of Nations for Ivory Coast so I am not going to rush anything.”
