Liverpool are reportedly monitoring Kieran Gibbs’ future at Arsenal.
Gibbs has lost his place as the Gunners’ first choice left-back to Nacho Monreal and currently remains in the dark over his long-term future
Talks have yet to open to extend the defender’s existing contract at the Emirates Stadium which is due to expire at the end of 2017/18 season.
The Daily Mirror claim that Arsene Wenger has alerted his side’s scouts to identify potential successors to Monreal, who turns 31 in February, and Gibbs.
That has put the Reds on alert as they consider the England international, 27, in Jurgen Klopp’s attempts to resolve the club’s long-running defensive problem.
Midfielder James Milner is currently deputising in the role after Alberto Moreno endured a series of error-strewn performances since his 2014 move to Anfield.
