Lucas Leiva staying at Liverpool FC after Galatasaray move collapses

Lucas Leiva looks set to remain with Liverpool after his proposed move to Galatasaray fell through.

A move to the Turkish club has remained on the agenda for the Brazilian this summer as his Anfield career appeared increasingly bleak.

Jurgen Klopp is under no pressure to sell Lucas but the 29-year-old has publicly acknowledged frustrations at his first-team prospects with the Reds.

But he is now in line for an extended stay with the Reds as Galatasaray sporting director Levent Nazifoglu claims the club have dropped their interest in the midfielder.

He said: “We are no longer pursuing Lucas Leiva.

“We will continue efforts to sign alternative names instead.”
