Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen is on the verge of a move to Stoke City.
Allen’s four-year stay with the Reds will draw to a close after a £13 million bid for the Wales international was accepted last week by Anfield officials.
The midfielder excelled for his country this summer as they reached the semi-finals of Euro 2016 and was named in UEFA’s team of the tournament.
With less than 12 months remaining on his current contract, however, Liverpool were reluctant to open negotiations on an extension for Allen.
Jurgen Klopp’s activity in the transfer market has seen the 26-year-old’s first-team prospects affected with the arrivals of Georginio Wijnaldum and Marko Grujic.
Sevilla and former club Swansea City both expressed an interest in Allen, with the latter tabling an unsuccessful £8 million offer back in June.
But Allen has agreed to join the Potters, where he will work under compatriot Mark Hughes, and will undergo a medical before joining their pre-season camp in the United States.
