Jurgen Klopp will look to bolster Liverpool’s defender after Joe Gomez succumbed to an injury setback.
Gomez failed to feature under the Reds manager after suffering a ruptured cruciate knee ligament in Klopp’s first week at the Anfield helm.
The 19-year-old had hoped to return to full fitness in time for the new Premier League campaign but has now suffered an Achilles tendon injury.
It is the second setback in a matter of days for Klopp following news of Mamadou Sakho’s absence due to a similar problem which plagued him last season.
That leaves Dejan Lovren and new recruit Joel Matip as Liverpool’s only senior options in defence with Andre Wisdom and Tiago Ilori as potential back-up.
However Ilori’s involvement for Portugal at this summer’s Olympics will compound matters further despite the centre-back remaining out of favour at the club.
Bournemouth, meanwhile, have sealed the signing of Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe after a £15 million bid was accepted by Anfield officials last month.
