Sampdoria are set to offer Mario Balotelli an escape route from his Liverpool nightmare.
Balotelli failed to secure a permanent move to AC Milan following an unsuccessful season-long loan and is set to be at the mercy of Jurgen Klopp this summer.
Anfield officials are keen to offload the maverick Italy international and Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero has admitted that he is open to signing a player who bears similarities with the club’s former striker Antonio Cassano.
He said: “Balotelli is Balotelli’s worst enemy – like Cassano is Cassano’s worst enemy.
“He’s a great player whose been stuck back in the 1960s.
“He could relaunch [his career] at a passionate club like ours, but he’s still a bit confused.
“I’ve tried to tell him to come to Samp because he’s a great talent.”
