Liverpool FC aiming to recoup transfer outlay for Christian Benteke

Liverpool have set Christian Benteke’s asking price at £30 million amid interest from Crystal Palace.

Benteke’s Anfield career failed to launch after his £32M move from Aston Villa last summer, with the striker recording a paltry 10 goals from 42 outings for the Reds.

But despite enduring a campaign to forget, Liverpool are unwilling to allow the Belgium international to leave on the cheap after Palace joined Atletico Madrid as potential suitors.

Owners Fenway Sports Group are keen to recoup the majority of their original outlay for Benteke, who failed to find favour after Jurgen Klopp replaced Brendan Rodgers.

The 25-year-old’s future appears increasingly bleak with the arrival of Sadio Mane earlier this week as well as Danny Ings’ return to fitness further compounding his first-team prospects behind first-choice forwards Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi.
