Inter Milan have joined the race to sign Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel this summer, with the player’s agent insisting that a move to the San Siro is a ‘distinct possibility’ for his client.
Skrtel, who is currently on international duty with Slovakia at Euro 2016, shone in his country’s 0-0 draw with England last night, yet all indications are that the imposing central defender is still surplus to requirements at Anfield.
Serie A rivals AS Roma had reportedly been at the front of the queue to sign the 31-year-old centre-back, who made just 25 starts for the club over the course of the season after falling out of favour with Reds manager Jurgen Klopp.
But several other sides, including Inter, are keen on acquiring Skrtel during the window, according to his agent, Karol Csonto.
He said: “We’ll know something more soon, in the next few days I think.
“There are several teams interested in the player, including Inter which is a distinct possibility. Martin is a great player.
“Roberto Mancini? We’re talking about a great Coach, but as I said, we have to wait. Not much longer, but we have to wait.”
