Jurgen Klopp admits that any decision on Philippe Coutinho’s Liverpool future does not rest with him.
Coutinho indicated his desire to leave Anfield on the eve of the Reds’ new Premier League campaign in attempts to force through a move to Barcelona.
Liverpool’s owners Fenway Sports Group rejected the Brazilian’s request emailed to sporting director Michael Edwards and maintain that he remains not for sale.
Speaking after his side’s 3-3 draw with Watford, Klopp conceded that he will not have the final say on whether Coutinho is allowed to leave the club this summer.
He said: “I didn’t get it but I can say something that is maybe more important.
“As a manager of a football club I have bosses, and if bosses decide, for example, just in general, if we sell a player or we don’t sell him, then I have to accept it.
“I cannot say anything about it [the transfer request]. I work with the players I have – that is what I’m always doing.”
