Klopp: Liverpool FC won’t sell Coutinho at any price

Jurgen Klopp insists that Liverpool will not sell Philippe Coutinho at any price.

Barcelona attempted to again test the Reds’ resolve for the playmaker with a £90 million bid, having failed with their initial £72m approach last month.

But the stance of the Anfield hierarchy has mirrored that of Klopp in recent weeks, when he insisted that Coutinho’s possible departure was not even being entertained.

And the Liverpool manager has repeated his previous declarations in the wake of Barca’s latest efforts to tempt the club to part with the Brazil international.

“Liverpool is not a club that has to sell players,” he told Sky Germany.

“That is set in stone, so what they offer in the end doesn’t matter.

“From a financial standpoint, there is no price limit to let him go. No price at which we are ready to give in.

“Our goal is to have the best possible team. So we want to keep our guys and add new ones. That is our plan.”

The Catalans’ continued interest in Coutinho comes after their hand was forced by Neymar’s world record £198m move to Paris Saint-Germain last week.

While Klopp acknowledges that players are always sellable, Liverpool are under no pressure to part with the 25-year-old after he signed a new five-year deal in January.

He added: Today, no player on the planet is unsellable.

“But a transfer is also a question of timing and if you have the opportunity and the need to react to such a transfer.

“Also you have to ask, if you have the time to react. But just because of one request of one club, we don’t have to think about that.

“We are not in that situation.”
