Emre Can wins Premier League’s Goal of the Season

Emre Can’s strike against Watford has won the Premier League’s Goal of the Season.

The Liverpool midfielder’s perfectly executed bicycle kick late in first-half stoppage time on May 1 proved the difference against the Hornets.

It also played a pivotal role in helping the Reds pip Arsenal to the league’s final Champions League qualification place as they went on to secure a top four finish.

Can’s seminal moment has scooped a host of accolades and has now been recognised by the Premier League itself as the outstanding goal of the campaign.

Run in conjunction with sponsors Carling, the Germany international beat off competition from a host of his top flight contemporaries to the accolade.

They included goals from Manchester United’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Chelsea duo Eden Hazard and Pedro, as well as Liverpool team mate Jordan Henderson.

Can had already scooped BBC’s Match of the Day and Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football’s respective awards as well as Liverpool’s own Goal of the Season gong.
