Dejan Lovren has signed a new deal which will keep him at Liverpool until summer 2021.
Negotiations on a four-year contract, which will see him earn just shy of £100,000 per week, finally concluded between Lovren and Reds officials earlier this week.
The option of an additional 12 months has been included, which would see the Croatia international spending the next five years on Merseyside.
A £20 million signing from Southampton in 2014, Lovren has become an integral figure for Liverpool since Jurgen Klopp succeeded Brendan Rodgers.
His most notable contribution came in last April’s thrilling Europa League quarter final win over Borussia Dortmund in which he headed home the decisive goal.
Lovren has endured an injury-hit season which has restricted him to just 25 Premier League outings and disrupted his defensive partnership with Joel Matip.
“I am really pleased Dejan has become the latest to recognise that Liverpool is a place where players can achieve their dreams and goals,” said Klopp.
“He is an outstanding defender and someone who, I believe, still has his best times to come as a player.
“He has all the assets a top centre-half needs in the modern game.
“He has already enjoyed some great moments at this club, but he, like all of us, is hungry to win trophies for LFC.
“I love this hunger and desire and look forward to seeing it translate to great performances for the team in the coming years.”
