Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Liverpool are in talks over Emre Can’s future.
The Germany international is yet to commit to a new long-term contract with the Reds as his current deal is set to expire at the end of next season.
Earlier this week Can refuted claims that money is a driving force in the impasse with Anfield officials as he seeks assurances over his long-term prospects.
But Klopp confirmed that discussions with the midfielder, who scored the winning goal in last weekend’s clash with Burnley, are currently taking place.
He said: “It actually makes no sense to talk about it.
“But because I obviously heard there was a story out there – yes, we are in talks.
“They are good because Emre likes to be here. We really like him as a person and as a player. So there are talks [but] there is nothing else to say.
“Until the final year starts, there are a few months still, [there is] absolutely no problems.
“Good talks [were also] held with a lot of other players, and if there is something to say about, we will be the first.”
