Everton FC outcast reveals Koeman view on his future

Aiden McGeady claims he discovered he had no Everton future just days into Ronald Koeman’s pre-season preparations.

The Republic of Ireland winger, a 2014 arrival from Spartak Moscow, sealed a season-long loan to Preston North End last night, just hours before the transfer deadline.

McGeady was not given a squad number by the Blues and has revealed that Koeman confirmed he was surplus to requirement in his first days back at the club.

He said: “I was pretty keen on getting something sorted.

“I was out of the picture at Everton, the manager made that clear to me after my first couple of days back that I wouldn’t be involved, so I had to get something sorted.

“Yesterday and today a couple of things popped up abroad that I wasn’t against, and up until this came up I was probably going abroad again, because I have done that before, but this is the perfect fit for me.”
