Everton will return to Swansea City with an improved bid for Ashley Williams.
Ronald Koeman’s £10 million approach for the Wales captain was rejected by the Swans, who revealed they ‘turned down the offer currently on the table’.
But the Blues remain undeterred in their plans to land Williams, 31, as Koeman looks to strengthen his defensive ranks ahead of the new season.
The Dutchman admitted earlier this week that plans were in the works to bring in new players before next season’s curtain-raiser at home to Tottenham.
He said: “We’re working hard to bring in good players.
“It’s not respectful to talk about players who are not players of Everton, but we hope to bring some new players in as soon as possible.”
