Napoli stall on Klaassen’s deadline day move

Davy Klaassen’s proposed move from Everton to Napoli has stalled.

Klaassen is keen to secure regular first-team football away from Goodison Park after enduring a difficult spell since arriving from Ajax last summer.

The Dutch midfielder was told by Sam Allardyce that he was free to leave the Blues in the January transferw window to pursue playing time elsewhere.

Fenerbahce and Napoli had both led the hunt for Klaassen but it was the Serie A giants who appeared to have been in pole position for a deadline day loan.

However reports in italy claim that the Partenopei are cooling their interest with concerns over his ineligibility to play in the Europa League knock-out stages.

Klaassen featured eight times during Everton’s qualifying route and unsuccessful group campaign in the competition, which ended disappointingly last month.

Napoli had hoped to include the 24-year-old in their squad for February’s last 32 encounter with Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.
