Everton line up £25m striker as January signing

Everton are lining up a £25 million deal with Besiktas for Cenk Tosun.

Reports in Turkey previously claimed that an £18m fee had been agreed for Tosun as Sam Allardyce looks to strengthen his squad in the January transfer window.

Adding a striker is chief among the Blues’ priorities, with Allardyce’s new side amassing a combined 24 goals in the Premier League to date.

That has led them to target German-born Tosun, who has scored 13 goals in 23 games this season, as a successor to the void left by Romelu Lukaku’s departure.

According to the Guardian, Everton will pay £20m up-front for the 26-year-old with another £5m made up of performance-related bonus clauses.

Tosun is said to have completed a medical on Wednesday and agreed a four-year deal, which will be finalised when the transfer window reopens on January 1.

Allardyce is believed to have tracked the striker for some time and even recommended him to former club Crystal Palace, who failed with a summer bid.
