Koeman hopeful of ‘good news’ on Sigurdsson

Ronald Koeman hopes to receive ‘good news’ on Everton’s pursuit of Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Sigurdsson is expected to seal a £50 million move to Goodison Park by the end of this weekend as discussions with Swansea City continue to progress.

The Icelandic playmaker has intimated his plans to quit the Liberty Stadium this summer and was omitted from the Swans’ recent pre-season tour of America.

Speaking after his side’s Europa League qualifying win over Ruzomberok, Koeman admitted that he has yet to receive any updates on negotiations.

But the Everton manager is optimistic that a positive outcome could be reached as he prepares to consult with the club’s hierarchy on Friday.

He said: “I don’t have an update today, because I did not speak to anybody.

“I was fully focused and concentrated on the game tonight and maybe we get some good news tomorrow.”
