Swansea have slapped a £50 million price tag on Everton target Gylfi Sigurdsson.
Goodison Park had appeared the most likely destination for the Iceland international as Ronald Koeman aims to continue the Blues’ transfer revolution.
But the Welsh club have hit back at Everton’s interest by ramping up Sigurdsson’s valuation following a failed attempt by Leicester City to land the player.
Wales Online claim that the Swans have already rebuffed a bid in excess of £40m for their player of the year from the former Premier League champions.
Swansea chiefs Steve Kaplan and Jason Levien are determined to drive a hard bargain if Everton are to make Sigurdsson their seventh summer signing.
The playmaker has not attempted to force a move away from the Liberty Stadium, where he has flourished since rejoining from Tottenham in 2014.
It was previously claimed that Sigurdsson would only be prepared to leave Swansea for a club that was competing in the Champions League.
However Everton’s interest could force both the hand of the player and his club.
