Swansea City have vowed to rebuff Everton’s advances for Gylfi Sigurdsson.
Ronald Koeman is targeting Sigurdsson as the Blues manager prepares to strengthen his squad ahead of next season’s Europa League campaign.
The Iceland international would cost in excess of £30 million, having helped inspired the Swans to a successful battle for their Premier League survival.
But the Welsh club’s majority shareholder Steve Kaplan insists that they face no pressure that will allow Sigurdsson to leave the Liberty Stadium this summer.
“We all know how important Gylfi is, just as he knows how much he’s valued and loved here,” he told Wales Online.
“There’s been interest in him before. There were some pretty big enquiries about him last summer and in the January window.
“But we didn’t want to sell him then and we don’t want to sell him now – and neither do we need to sell him.
“He has three years on his contract and he’s part of our plans going forward under Paul Clement.
“Our aims are to make sure that we build on the successful end to the season and that doesn’t include selling out best players.”
Everton previously struck a £12m deal with Swansea last summer for veteran defender Ashley Williams to become a key arrival in Koeman’s debut campaign.
