Barcelona chief confirms plans to re-sign Deulofeu

Robert Fernandez has confirmed that Barcelona are planning to re-sign Gerard Deulofeu.

The Everton winger is currently enjoying a spell on loan with AC Milan after failing to force his way into Ronald Koeman’s first-team setup earlier this season.

Deulofeu left the Nou Camp in summer 2015 in favour of a permanent switch to the Blues, where he had spent 2013/14 on loan, for just £4.2 million.

But he could be set to rejoin his former club for triple that figure this summer with Barca able to exercise their option of a £10.2 million buy-back clause.

And sporting director Fernandez has openly admitted that work is underway on securing Deulofeu’s return to the Catalan giants.

“Deulofeu, yes, it’s absolutely an option for the future,” he told TV3.

“The club are considering bringing him back to play for the first team.”

Across his two spells at Goodison Park, the 23-year-old has recorded eight goals in 74 appearances.
