David Moyes eyes reunion with Everton FC duo

Bryan Oviedo and Darron Gibson could be in line for a reunion with former Everton manager David Moyes at Sunderland.

The pair were both signed by Moyes in 2012, during his final 18 months at the Goodison Park helm prior to succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.

But both Gibson and Oviedo have since endured injury-hit spells at the Blues and seen first-team opportunities prove limited under Ronald Koeman this season.

Earlier this week Moyes linked up again with another of his former players in Joleon Lescott, who has joined the Black Cats on a short-term deal.

He previously re-signed his one-time Goodison allies Steven Pienaar and Victor Anichebe as Sunderland battle to escape the Premier League’s relegation zone.

Ex-Everton prodigy Jack Rodwell was already at the Stadium of Light prior to Moyes’ arrival but he is now considering a fresh return to his former club.

According to the Daily Mail, he has identified Oviedo and Gibson as key additions to his squad before the transfer window closes on January 31.

Oviedo has not featured for Everton since a 5-0 thrashing by Chelsea on November 5 while Gibson’s last previous outing came against Yeovil in the EFL Cup back in August.

During his time in charge at United, Moyes attempted to prise Leighton Baines away from Goodson in a joint £31 million bid for the left-back and Marouane Fellaini.

But Goodison officials held firms and only allowed Fellaini to work with his former boss at Old Trafford by agreeing to a deal worth £27 million.
