Everton FC boosted by Premier League target’s shock decision

Everton have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk.

Van Dijk emerged as a target for the Blues, who are prepared to pay close to £40 million to secure his services, as well as Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester City.

The full-back was originally signed by Ronald Koeman during his time in charge at St Mary’s and may reportedly be preparing for a potential reunion in January.

According to the Daily Mirror, Van Dijk’s has switched his agent to the Wasserman Group , who are long-standing representatives of Koeman.

Under the current Everton manager’s tutelage, the 25-year-old was able to establish himself as a firm favourite for his country on the international stage.

Van Dijk is expected to be one of several Dutch arrivals at Goodison Park next month alongside the planned pursuit of Manchester United winger Memphis Depay.
