Everton’s plan for a new stadium is ‘closer than it’s ever been’ according to the Mayor of Liverpool.
A number of sites are being assessed by the Blues, with the north Liverpool docks and Stonebridge Cross both firmly in contention.
But Joe Anderson, who has held talks with Goodison Park chiefs on the issue, revealed that a solution edging nearer during conversations with supporters on Twitter.
He said: “It’s closer now than it was last month and closer now than it’s ever been.
“All working hard to make it happen.”
Mayor Anderson also appeared to hint that Bramley-Moore dock is a potential destination by responding to one fan’s query on the social media network.
His response contained the words ‘The Moore the merrier for me’, accompanied by a winking emoji.
Bramley-Moore has been used as a site for the city’s annual Sound City festival but remains otherwise unoccupied since its 1988 closure.
