Swansea City tell Everton FC to increase Ashley Williams offer

Everton will need to increase their original £10 million offer for Ashley Williams.

An opening bid for the Swansea City captain was rejected by the Welsh club last night as Ronald Koeman plans to strengthen the Blues’ defence.

Williams had appeared on course to join Idrissa Gueye and Maarten Stekelenburg at Goodison Park but the Swans’ hierarchy have stood firm.

“We are not looking to sell him, and therefore we have turned down the offer currently on the table”, a club spokesman confirmed.

Since arriving from Stockport in 2008, the 31-year-old has made over 350 appearances for Swansea and established himself as one of the Premier League’s most consistent performers.
