Ashley Williams will become Everton’s second summer signing in the next 24 hours.
Ronald Koeman has identified the Swansea City captain as a key addition as he looks to shore up the Blues’ defence ahead of John Stones’ impending exit.
And Williams could become an Everton player by the time they take on Manchester United in Wayne Rooney’s testimonial on Wednesday night.
The 31-year-old is on the verge of a £10 million move to Goodison Park, joining Maarten Stekelenburg as the club’s summer intake.
Williams was signed for Swansea by Roberto Martinez, Koeman’s predecessor at Everton, in March 2008 for a bargain fee of £300,000.
Since then he has gone on to become a near ever-present at the Liberty Stadium and one of the Premier League’s most consistent performers.
