Farhad Moshiri claims Everton are ‘close’ to naming a new manager.
A permanent successor to Ronald Koeman is yet to be appointed despite a full month elapsing since the Dutchman officially left his post over 32 days ago.
Under-23 coach David Unsworth has taken temporary charge since Koeman’s departure, overseeing one win, one draw and four defeats in all competitions.
Marco Silva had emerged as the Blues’ preferred candidate but Watford have turned down their advances for the highly-rated Portuguese coach.
RB Leipzig’s technical director Ralf Rangnick is expected to rebuff Everton’s approach while former England boss Sam Allardyce has also ruled himself out.
But Moshiri has disclosed to TalkSport presenter Jim White that the search for Koeman’s replacement at Goodison Park is nearing its conclusion.
“The first priority is to stabilise the club and finalise the appointment of a manager – we are close,” he wrote.
“It is really best to say nothing until a new (management) team is appointed and we climb up the table.”
