Ross Barkley has broken his silence on his failed transfer to Chelsea.
Barkley was on the verge of sealing a deadline day move from Everton to Stamford Bridge only to stage a dramatic U-turn at the eleventh hour.
Blues’ majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri claimed that the midfielder had undergone a medical before deciding against the proposed £35 million switch.
But the Wavertree-born player, now in the final 12 months of his current Everton deal, has set the record straight on Saturday through his Twitter account.
“Contrary to a number of reports in the press, I did not undertake a medical with any club at any point,” he wrote.
“I simply decided that due to my injury, it would be best to make a decision on my future and assess all my options in January when fully fit.
“Thanks for all of the support.”
Barkley turned down a new contract with Everton, prompting Ronald Koeman to reveal that the 23-year-old was ‘looking for a new challenge’.
The England international is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury which is expected to sideline him for up to three months.
