Romelu Lukaku has told Everton that he will not sign a new long-term contract.
Lukaku’s agent Mino Raiola repeatedly vowed that he would pledge his future to the Blues, recently claiming that talks were ‘99.999999’ per cent complete.
But the Belgium international has stunned Goodison Park chiefs by informing them that he has no intention of signing the club’s proposed five-year deal.
Everton were planning to make Lukaku the highest-paid player in their entire history as part of the contract, worth a lucrative £140,000 per week.
However the 23-year-old is preferring to hold fire with interest likely to be forthcoming from several Champions League participants this summer.
Lukaku previously targeted a return to former club Chelsea in the opening weeks of Ronald Koeman’s tenure but later pledged to remain on Merseyside.
Raiola previously claimed that Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain had expressed an interest in signing the current Premier League top scorer.
