Everton FC ‘will do everything to keep’ Barkley

Ronald Koeman has vowed that Everton ‘will do everything’ to secure Ross Barkley’s long-term future.

Barkley’s current contract is set to expire at the end of next season, with the midfielder currently enjoying his best spell of form for the Blues this term.

With negotiations over Romelu Lukaku’s new deal now concluded, Koeman has turned his attention to resolving any uncertainty over the England international.

And the Everton manager has revealed that talks had been planned with Barkley’s representatives to extend his career-long association with Goodison Park.

He said: “The situation about these players who will finish their contract after one year – he is one of them.

“We will do everything to keep Ross and (get him) to sign a new contract.

“Talks are planned but I don’t think they have started yet.”
